The Healthy Critters crew discuss a newly developed tool for calming equines — music for horses:
Tigger: “This is an article that came out October 1st, 2021. The big international pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim has released a music track.
Jenn [laughs] “WAIT wait wait wait…say that again?”
Tigger: “It’s called Equine Relax Trax, and it’s specially designed to help reduce stress in horses. Because research shows that, as we know, stress can turn into equine gastric ulcer syndrome. The musical arrangement was created by a woman named Janet Marlow who is a sound behavorist, composer, researcher, and founder of Pet Acoustics, Inc.
I was so intrigued by this, so I went to the link and listened to it, and I was *immediately* drawn in. And I thought, ‘Yeah, if I was a horse listening to this, I would really feel chilled. Not chill like I don’t want to do anything, but more in that relaxed, balanced, peaceful state of mind…'”
