Co-host Pati Pierucci shares what she’s learned from her own experience with warts on horses and how to treat them:
“[The cause of warts on horses] is the papillomavirus. It can start off in singles, these can become clusters, and it tends to be in younger horses. It’s very uncommon to happen in older horses, although it can….they can literally show up in one day and then multiply very, very quickly. There are a couple of different websites I’ve found; one says leave it alone; they’ll eventually in five to ten weeks kind of dry up and go away on their own. There’s another website where they tell you to take some olive oil and crushed garlic and put in a jar, shake it well—you’ll have to refrigerate it—and you use a cotton swab or a cotton ball, and put it on [the horse’s] nose a couple of times a day, and apparently that really will help…”
